Property Description

The Riviera del Brenta is an urban area in the province of Venice that stretches along the banks of the Brenta Canal. It is the ancient natural river bed of the river Brenta: it branches off from the latter at the height of Stra and, flowing substantially from west to east, flows into the Venetian Lagoon.
It is an area of high historical-landscape value, characterized by the presence of numerous historic houses and famous Palladian villas.
Villa Fernanda, so known by the local inhabitants, was built in the early ‘900 at the behest of an architect, and is the result of the mix of neocastellano style, widespread in the early twentieth century, with the Liberty style. It is located in the town of Fiesso d’Artico and is about 30km from Venice city. It is often framed by the cameras during the Venice Marathon with its more than 10 thousand participants, as the race course passes right in front of the Villa.
It is an eclectic building because it is clear that in the mind of the architect there were no fixed canons and therefore difficult to be traced back to a common genre. The sense of eclectic architecture lies in knowing how to draw from the immense repertoire of forms and styles of the past, choosing among them the most harmonious and refined combinations. Even the eclectic choice is almost always reduced to a simple formal act, and therefore does not take into account the historical and cultural motivations that, over the centuries, have determined the formation and evolution of the various styles.
The villa is set in a private park of almost 1.800sqm and has an “L” plan with ground, first and second floors, as well as the attic and the basement. One of the characterizing constructive elements is the presence of the cylindrical tower. The roof is in late Gothic style and the windows are all different in shape and style. Instead the flooring is typical Venetian, as is the stone staircase. On the ground floor there is a living room as well as a separate kitchen, while on the upper floors there are 6 bedrooms and three bathrooms.
When it was built it immediately became famous for the particular architectural compromise that recalls “La casa delle Fate”. It was repeatedly photographed by local inhabitants and its image used for local postcards to be sold to tourists.
During the Second World War it was used as the headquarters of the German army.
In subsequent years it has always been used for residential use by a single noble family and has been received by the current owners by succession.
The building needs internally of small redevelopment and recovery interventions. Being a historical building – a testimonial of the Municipality of Fiesso d’Artico (Ve), there are precise provisions concerning materials and methods of intervention that however leave ample room for personalization.
Unique villa for romantic customers and eager to live in a building able to make you dream.
